Charlotte City Council voted to approve a youth curfew as part of a pilot program. It covers anyone under 18 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily, with exceptions for work or a guardian's presence. The pilot runs from Nov. 1 through Aug. 31, 2027, so families can plan around the dates.

Huntington Bank announced it will put its name on top of its building at 101 South Tryon Street. The bank says the signage reflects its commitment to the Carolinas and its long-term regional strategy. Huntington has based its regional headquarters in Charlotte since 2023, so the change adds a visible bank brand to the uptown skyline.

UNC Charlotte marked its 80th anniversary on Tuesday with a tree planting outside the Gage Undergraduate Admissions Center. The event began a countywide tribute in which the university will donate 80 oak trees across Mecklenburg County. The university opened in 1946, and the donation will reach places throughout the county.

A construction project will expand the Charlotte Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity headquarters on Beatties Ford Road. The addition covers more than 5,000 square feet, and QCity Metro reported the plans on Sept. 28. The project is meant to support the chapter's growth and gives the fraternity a larger base in Charlotte.
