About Juncture
Stay close to the places that made you.
Where you live now, where you're from, and the places your people are — all in one place, in your language.
You can name every celebrity scandal and political feud of the week — yet have no idea what's happening on the next street over, or in the town that raised you. Somewhere along the way, the news stopped being about the places we actually live.
Juncture is a verified, language-native newsroom built around people, not algorithms — for those rooted in one place but tied to many. Where you've made your home, and the families, homelands and communities you never stopped caring about.
Real news is created by people, not corporations. Here it's reported by the people who live it, consolidated and fact-checked against standards you can see — so a story is something you can trust before you pass it on. And the people who report it share in what it earns.
Because being informed is only the beginning. Juncture is where you stay close to the places that made you — and help shape the one you're in now.
Our promises
The things we will never do, however big we get:
- One event, one story. We merge duplicate reports into a single story with all its sources — never twenty versions of the same headline.
- People over pundits. The news here is reported by the people who live it, credited as sources — not just aggregation.
- Calm by default. No auto-playing video, no animated ad blocks, no walls of charts you didn't ask for.
- Ads never hide in your reading. Any sponsorship is clearly labelled and kept out of the story flow — and supporters never see ads.
- We won't paywall the truth. Community reports are free; a story's origin, sources and corroboration are always free.
- No paywall ambushes. We flag links that dead-end at someone else's paywall.
- AI serves the story, never replaces it. It only translates and helps moderate — it never writes your news.
- Your news travels with you. Built on the open web — any phone, any computer, no lock-in.
- Readable on every screen. One responsive layout, every story — no pinch-and-zoom.
- No dark patterns. We'll never dangle locked stories or nag you to upgrade.
How it works
Juncture puts you at the centre of the news. Here's the gist.
Two kinds of circles
- Places are your personal lenses — *Present* (where you live now), *Roots* (where you're from) and *Heart* (places you're connected to). They're how you read, and they're private to you.
- Communities are joinable groups — a place + a culture + its people — where you belong and post. The place is the lens; the community is the room.
Your places
Set your Present, Roots and Heart from the top of the home page, then switch between them anytime — or see them together in your overview. Together they keep you informed of your past, present and future — and being informed is the first step to getting involved.
Reach and beats
Reach widens or narrows a place from your city out to the whole country or the world. Beats filter by subject — politics, economy, society, culture, sports, education, health.
Communities
Join the communities for where you live and the cultures you belong to, and post your news, events, jobs and more to them.
Reporters and verification
Anyone can become a reporter and file reports. Juncture's AI consolidates multiple reports into one verified story and checks it against red-flag rules; human moderators review anything sensitive. Reporters earn ranks and recognition.
Your language and currency
The whole site is multilingual — switch anytime. Temperatures show in °C or °F and money in your currency, auto-selected from your country. We even capture the original language, units and currency of every report, so we can translate and convert it faithfully.

Your three places
Present
where you live now
Roots
where you're from
Heart
places you're tied to
Places are how you read the news. Communities are the rooms you join to belong and post.
How a report becomes verified news
- 1
Many people report
- 2
AI checks each one
- 3
Similar reports merged
One trusted story
The same event is often reported by several people. AI approves clean reports, masks any rule-breaking detail while keeping the news, and sends anything doubtful to a human reviewer — then merges the matching reports into one story that credits every source.
Why Juncture's different
Places — your anchors
Present · Roots · Heart
- How you read — your personal lenses on the news.
- Private to you — no members, nothing to moderate.
- They reflect a life lived in several places at once.
Communities — groups
place + culture + people
- Where you belong and post.
- Membership, roles and moderation.
- Specific — e.g. "Tucson Bengali Community", not just "Tucson".
The place is the lens; the community is the room. Your Present place leads you to the communities there — join one and it becomes your primary.
