A 10-minute lockdown was lifted at Cavazos Elementary School on Wednesday. The action followed a report of a man seen with a weapon near the campus. Both the McAllen Police Department and Edinburg CISD Police Department investigated and cleared the scene.
A 48-year-old Edinburg woman was arrested after McAllen police linked her to a drug delivery that resulted in the overdose death of a 39-year-old man. Vanessa Denise Rico faces charges including manufacturing/delivering a controlled substance causing serious bodily injury or death. Authorities seized cocaine and packaging equipment during a search warrant execution.
