Matthew 25 AIDS Services is organizing Bowling Green's first memorial walk honoring the victims of the AIDS epidemic. The event will take place at Preston Miller on Oct. 31, starting at 10 a.m. Registration for walkers and sponsorships is open until Oct. 1.
Work is underway to transform a former gun store on Scottsville Road into the Bowling Green Police Department’s new East Precinct. The renovation, handled by Windsor Construction, aims to improve response times in the busy area. The site will house department personnel and include an indoor shooting range.
One owner of downtown bar The Dusty Boot was found guilty last week of two counts of sexual misconduct and sentenced to six months in jail. Christopher Gipson, 30, was convicted after a two-day trial in Warren District Court. A motion has been filed requesting an acquittal and new trial.

The Robert E. Spiller Veterans Center opened in the Kentucky Transpark after decades of planning and delays. The 80,000-square-foot facility will house 60 veterans and is the fifth such center in the state. Gov. Andy Beshear attended the ribbon-cutting event.

Trooper Hayden Phillips was killed Monday during a traffic stop on I-65 North near the Smith’s Grove exit. The Bowling Green community has gathered at his cruiser to leave gifts and share memories of him. Emonnie Branch is charged with murder in connection with the shooting.
