A Kentucky State Police trooper was shot and killed during a traffic stop on Interstate 65 on Monday. A manhunt ended with a Tennessee man's arrest in Louisville, and he is charged with murder of a first responder. Authorities say they are pursuing maximum justice, and the charge remains an allegation until court proceedings conclude.

University of Louisville Campus Health Services is running several mobile flu shot clinics this semester. The clinics will continue at various campus locations through Nov. 10, giving students several chances to get vaccinated. A nurse said vaccination matters for students because they live and study in close quarters.

A fire early Monday destroyed playground equipment at Bellevue Park in the Beechmont neighborhood of south Louisville. A passerby called it in shortly before 3 a.m., and arson investigators are working to learn whether someone set it on purpose. Only charred scraps and a swingset remain, so the neighborhood's play space is now much reduced.

The National Jug Band Jubilee returns to the Brown-Forman Amphitheater at Waterfront Park on Saturday, Oct. 3. The free festival features performances, food vendors and workshops celebrating a blend of folk, blues and early jazz. Because admission is free, residents can attend without buying a ticket.
