The Sacramento City Council approved six new entertainment zones, including areas in Oak Park and along Broadway. That makes 11 districts citywide where approved businesses may sell alcoholic drinks to go during special events. Residents and visitors near those districts may now see to-go drink sales during special events.

Sacramento security firm HQ Security began offering free patrols around the clock in the Lavender Heights district. Police are investigating one of several recent attacks in the district as a hate crime against an LGBTQ+ advocate. The patrols give residents, workers and visitors of the neighborhood an added safety resource at no cost.

Starbucks closed its location at 1901 J Street in midtown as part of nationwide closures. Nearby small business owners cite crime as a growing problem, and one employee described daily incidents such as theft and suspicious activity. Another local business closed over falling sales and crime, which reduces shopping options for people nearby.

Fans and local leaders gathered to show support for Sacramento becoming a permanent Major League City. Rivercities Baseball Initiative representatives said the city suits an additional Major League Baseball team, and officials cited its history of backing pro sports.
