This is Nib's brief for Lindsay, the week of October ninth to twenty-second. A quiet week in local news, with one serious charge and one long-awaited opening. The hard news comes from Lindsay Street South. Kawartha Lakes Police Service responded to a robbery at a gas station. It happened in the early morning hours of Thursday, October twenty-second, according to the Kawartha Lakes Weekly.
The accused stole items and caused damage before police located and arrested him, the Kawartha Lakes Weekly reports. He was identified as a thirty-five-year-old male from Kingston. He was charged after the armed robbery.
The softer news is a new home for local art. The Kawartha Art Gallery will celebrate the grand opening of its permanent home at nineteen Cambridge Street South on November twentieth, kawarthaNOW reports.
The move completes a transition from operating out of the Lindsay branch of the Kawartha Lakes Public Library. It allows for expanded exhibitions and programming. New home, more art.
